We look forward to working with our UK partners to implement this agreement and to further strengthen our economic ties with this longstanding friend, in the years ahead.

The FTA will eliminate tariffs and barriers to trade, making it easier and cheaper for South Australian businesses to sell their products and services to the UK, and vice versa.

This will increase competition, drive innovation, and deliver greater consumer choice and value.

To be able to be of the first jurisdictions in London advocating for our State following the announcement of the commencement date of the A-UKFTA positions South Australia’s produce exceptionally well to seize the opportunities that it offers.

Coupling my meeting with the UK Minister for State, with a meeting with one of my former federal colleagues whose experience and expertise across defence, international relations and trade will provide a unique understanding of how best to position South Australia to reap the opportunities from two of the most momentous events in the UK/Australian relationship in the A-UKFTA and AUKUS Agreement.
