I thank all the dedicated people in our homelessness services who will be working hard in coming days to make sure that members of our community who need our help stay safe during this extreme weather.

I encourage rough sleepers to take up the opportunity to stay warm and dry – these services are here to help and keep you safe.

We can and should be providing extra help when people face serious risks to their health and safety from extreme weather.
