The Malinauskas Labor Government today marks one year in office and has so far delivered half of the promises made at the 2022 State Election.
The State Government has delivered 48.6 per cent of its election commitments after the first year of the four-year term.
Among the election commitments delivered in State Government’s first year:
- Brought back the Adelaide 500
- Recruited 119 additional ambos
- Established the $40 million Major Events Fund
- Doubled the cost of living concession
- Delivered free public transport 24/7 for seniors
- Reduced school materials fee for all public-school students by $100
- Introduced laws to help police hunt down online predators and crack down on child sex offenders
- Extended shop trading hours on Sundays
- Scrapped the former government’s $662 million Basketball Stadium
- Stopped paid parking at Tea Tree Plaza
- Implemented new procurement policy to maximise SA businesses’ access
- Repealed Electric Vehicle Tax
- Reinstated Country Cabinet meetings
Other highlights from the government’s first year include:
- Securing the AUKUS submarine build in Adelaide
- Securing AFL’s inaugural Gather Round and LIV Golf tournament
- Recording the lowest unemployment rate in the state’s history
- Established Early Childhood Royal Commission
- Unveiled new plans for the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital
- Started rolling out ban on mobile phones in schools
- Unveiling a once-in-a-generation housing policy, including the single largest release of residential land in the state’s history
- Delivered fee-free TAFE courses for more than 6,000 South Australians
- Selected sites for technical colleges and ambulance stations
