In a win for South Australian job seekers, more than 8700 TAFE SA offers have been made to students for Semester 1, 2020 – an increase of around 600 compared to last year’s figure.
Popular courses by first preference in 2020 include Nursing and Pathology, Children’s Education and Care, Aged and Disability Services, and Electrical and Renewable Energy.
It comes on the back of recent data showing enrolments up by more than 2100 students across all TAFE SA courses late last year, while 2019 also saw TAFE SA receive the maximum seven-year registration from the national regulator for the first time.
Education Minister John Gardner said that the community’s confidence in TAFE is growing.
“South Australian job seekers can undertake these courses with enhanced confidence in TAFE SA to deliver high quality training that meets the standards that our local industry needs,” said Minister Gardner.
“This Government is committed to providing South Australians with a strong public training provider that sets a benchmark for quality in vocational education in our state.
“TAFE SA has been working hard to ensure that applicants are given the best opportunity to find the right course, at the right level for their success, and this has seen an increase in the number of applicants receiving offers this year.
“Demand has seen some courses filled to capacity this year, with strong demand shown in key areas such as nursing, pathology, and aged and disability services, along with a significant jump in interest in growth areas such as cyber security and renewable energy.
“We are delivering on our promise to provide a fresh start for TAFE SA, as they remain focused on meeting the needs of both South Australians seeking the skills they need to build their careers and the local industry that is seeking a skilled workforce.”
