The State Government welcomes the announcement from the Independent Commission Against Corruption that the Deputy Commissioner will conduct an evaluation of Central Adelaide Local Health Network.

This evaluation will look at specific aspects of the practices, policies, and procedures of Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN), as they relate to the receipt, management, investigation and outcomes of complaints about the Network and its staff.

CALHN is the health region which includes the Royal Adelaide Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The Malinauskas Labor Government welcomes this evaluation of CALHN and looks forward to its findings and recommendations.

There’s no doubt the former Liberal Government left behind a health system under enormous pressure.

The Malinauskas Government has been elected to improve health services provided to South Australians and the findings and the recommendations of this evaluation will be very helpful in improving the practices and policies of our health services.

I absolutely welcome the announcement from the Commissioner that an evaluation will be conducted into the policies and procedures of CALHN – and the Government will provide full cooperation to ensure a successful outcome.

South Australians elected a new government five weeks ago to improve the health system, ensure patients get access to care, and support our health care workers.

This evaluation is timely with a new Government in place with a focus on health. The evaluation will provide an important assessment of what is happening in the policies and procedures of the system and help the Government to improve delivery of health services.

This follows the report into SA Health “Troubling Ambiguity” that was released in 2019 by the previous ICAC Commissioner after requests for a broader investigation into SA Health were not supported by the previous government.
