Service SA centres across Adelaide will soon be open on Saturdays to provide greater flexibility for customers to access important services and information.

Starting from May 6, Service SA centres in Elizabeth, Marion, Modbury, Prospect and Seaford Meadows will be open on Saturdays from 9am-5pm, offering more convenience - particularly for customers who work or have commitments during regular business hours.

This change - delivering on an election commitment by the Malinauskas Labor Government - will help people access the services they need, when it suits them.

This initiative is part of the ongoing commitment to provide services that are easier and more accessible to better meet the needs of all South Australians.

Opening on Saturdays at these locations will give customers who need to visit a centre in person another flexible option, complementing the increasing range of online services available anywhere, anytime at service.sa.gov.au.

Many common transactions can be conveniently completed online on the Service SA website, including renewing your licence or vehicle registration, updating your address and details, or ordering a personalised number plate.

Elizabeth, Marion, Modbury, Prospect and Seaford Meadows have been specifically chosen to open on Saturdays as they are some of the most popular locations and will provide convenient options for customers across Adelaide.

An additional 12 full-time staff will be allocated to these centres to meet the anticipated demand for services. Service SA staff have been consulted since last year to ensure a smooth introduction of Saturday trading.

The State Government will closely monitor the new Saturday arrangements once they begin, with any necessary adjustments to opening hours to be made to best meet the needs of customers.

Please visit service.sa.gov.au to see if you can complete your transaction online or to find the location of a centre near you.

In the lead-up to the State Election we promised to open specific Service SA centres on Saturdays, and we are delivering on that commitment.

From May 6, Service SA customers will be able to enjoy the flexibility and convenience of Elizabeth, Marion, Modbury, Prospect and Seaford Meadows centres opening from 9am to 5pm every Saturday.

Two of these centres, Prospect and Modbury, were slated for closure as a supposed cost-saving measure under the former Marshall Liberal government’s first budget – despite being among the most utilised centres in South Australia.

The Liberals wanted to close these centres – instead they’ll be operating six days a week for the first time.

We’re giving people access to the services they need, when it suits them.

We have listened to feedback from many people who find it difficult to take time out of their day to get to a Service SA centre during normal business hours, particularly those that are tied up with family and work commitments during the week.

By opening on Saturdays at five Service SA locations across Adelaide, we’re making it easier to drop in and access important services and advice – whether that’s on the way to the shops or coming home from kids’ sport.

We are currently bringing on more staff to ensure we can cater for the additional operating hours, and I thank our Service SA staff for their willingness be flexible to support more easily accessible services for South Australians.

We also remind customers that many transactions can now be completed online at service.sa.gov.au, but of course, they are always welcome to visit our centres if they prefer – and can now do so six days a week.
