South Australia has cemented its position as one of the most attractive jurisdictions in the world for mining investment, ranking tenth overall in the Fraser Institute’s 2021 Mining Survey.

The Fraser Institute’s 2021 Mining survey sets the benchmark for the exploration and mining industry globally, with circulation across 84 jurisdictions compared with the 2020 survey which spanned 77 jurisdictions.

The survey, which takes into consideration both mineral and policy perceptions, rates regions based on their geological attractiveness as well as the effects of government policy and attitude toward exploration investment.

In 2021, South Australia ranked second nationally, and tenth globally, across all jurisdictions.

Over the past 10 years South Australia has consistently ranked in the Top 20 global jurisdictions based on exploration and mining opportunities the state has to offer, coupled with the ease of doing business.

Attributable to Mining and Energy Minister Tom Koutsantonis

South Australia’s consistent high performance in the Fraser Institute Survey is testament to the bi-partisan support industry has had across the political divide.

Further, the streamlined processes, de-risked investment opportunities and data generated by the Gelogical Survey of South Australia has held the mining and exploration sector’s in good stead.

I am proud of the work the Department for Energy and Mining has done to develop South Australia’s reputation as one of the best places in the world to invest, do business and create jobs.
